"The Man Who Invented Christmas" (2017) - Part 2

I don't want to spoil anything from the movie "The Man Who Invented Christmas" from 2017 for anyone who hasn't had a chance to see it, so I'll just provide a few general comments.

I don't think it's a spoiler to say that Charles Dickens succeeds in getting "A Christmas Carol" written and published, but how he gets to that point is what makes up the story.

I think it's a lot of fun to see the various influences come together, whether it has any resemblance to what actually happened back in 1843 or not!

I really enjoyed Dan Stevens as Charles Dickens here. He's extremely likeable and you're rooting for him to succeed.

Dan Stevens will always probably be best-known for the TV series "Downton Abbey," which was quite a sensation a few years ago. I thought he was good on that and the show did jump the shark after he left, so make of that what you will!

Scrooge is portrayed here by Christopher Plummer and he does a great job. Makes you wonder how he'd be in a full-fledged adaptation of the story.

Christopher Plummer has enjoyed a long and distinguished career, including becoming the oldest winner of a competitive Academy Award when he took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for "Beginners" (2010).

I understand that it's somewhat to his chagrin that his best-known movie remains "The Sound of Music (1965), however!

In any event, if you haven't seen "The Man Who Invented Christmas" yet, by all means do so!

It's a blast!
