"That Holiday Spirit" - Eddie Lawrence as Charlie Scrooge (1957) - Part 2

If you got the chance to listen to "That Holiday Spirit" by Eddie Lawrence (as "Charlie Scrooge"), I'm sure you'll agree that it's offbeat!

The label clearly lets us know that Eddie Lawrence is the performer, but I can understand him including the alias, as this rant is different from the usual rants he would rant under his more familiar "Old Philosopher" persona.

In fact, the A-side of this record is "The Merry Old Philosopher."

Let's give it a listen:

Eddie's original record of "The Old Philosopher" was actually a hit on the charts in 1956. These were good days for novelty records!

Let's hear that one too!

Back to "That Holiday Spirit," it's an amusing Scroogey take on Christmas and a couple of other holidays.

From the Things That Make You Go Hmmm Department: "The Merry Old Philosopher Side" is billed as "Comedy Narration with Musical Accompaniment" whereas the "That Holiday Spirit" side carries no such designation. Hmmm...

Good fun!
